The NEW EPICUR Citizen Science Platform is online!

We have launched our dedicated Citizen Science Platform: a new space designed to bring researchers, staff, and citizens together around participatory science.

The platform builds directly on the experience of EPICUR’s Citizen Science competence program, developed by the Citizen Science Knowledge Center at the University of Southern Denmark.

Since spring 2025, the program has combined an online course and a two-day summer school in Odense, Denmark, attracting 133 participants from across the alliance, 80% of them were researchers.

Evaluations were encouraging, with most participants feeling equipped to apply Citizen Science in both theory and practice. A recurring request from participants was a shared space to continue exchanging ideas after the course.

The platform is precisely that.

Open to members of all EPICUR partner universities, the platform hosts 4 core areas:

  • a Competence Development Programme,
  • a Teaching Programme,
  • a Citizen Science Project,
  • and a Citizen Science Framework.

Together, they cover the full range of participatory research, from training and methodology to real-world implementation across the alliance.

A dedicated “Citizen Science within the Alliance” section showcases the diverse initiatives already underway at EPICUR partner universities.
