Erasmus+ and Ukraine: EPICUR contributing to two major European initiatives
Since the start of Russia’s war of aggression, Erasmus+ has played a key role in Ukraine.

The European Commission has published “Learning, Connecting, Rebuilding”, a new collection highlighting 20 Erasmus+ projects that support education, training, youth and sport in the country.
Among these 20 initiatives, EPICUR through Université de Strasbourg and Adam Mickiewicz University plays a leading role in two key contributions:
- DigiUni: the most ambitious Erasmus+ capacity-building project for Ukraine
With a budget of €5 million over four years, DigiUni is one of the most ambitious projects funded by Erasmus+ supporting Ukraine. This collaboration brings together 17 European and Ukrainian partner universities around the ambition of developing a shared digital platform of learning resources and educational opportunities. The University of Strasbourg is contributing by providing expertise in inter-university digital platforms and the governance of university networks, in training faculty in the use of digital tools such as digital resources platforms or augmented reality and in creating MOOC-style courses to be hosted on the platform universities. Adam Mickiewicz University provided expertise on enhancing digital competencies and it is co-leading the work package on curriculum development.
The project will conclude with a final event organised by the University of Strasbourg at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
- The FOREU4ALL Community of Practice thematic group “Cooperation with Ukraine”
This thematic group serves as a dedicated forum for regular exchange, needs identification and partnership development with Ukrainian universities. It has produced extensive data, organised in-persons and online workshops, and reached out to a larger higher education audience (including policy-makers). Its main goal is to support the gradual integration of Ukrainian universities into the European Higher Education Area thanks to networks such as alliances. Until now, the group has brought together more than 50 alliances of European universities. Both Unistra and AMU are co-leading the group (2025-2027).
