HYDRA-POM
HYDRA-POM synergizes AMU, AUTH and UNISTRA by combining AMU’s polyoxometalates synthesis and characterization, AUTH’s photoactive ligand expertise, and UNISTRA’s electrochemical analysis. Jointly, we will refine DNA interaction methods and generate new functional DNA-based hybrids. Intensive know-how exchange via EPICUR MSc workshops and seminars will drive innovation, fostering a competitive DN-MSCA proposal on redox/light-active anticancer materials.

HYDRA-POM investigates innovative redox- and photoactive metallodrugs based on polyoxometalate-organic hybrids for cancer therapy with reduced side effects. This transdisciplinary collaboration combines AMU’s POM synthesis, AUTH’s photoactive ligand design, and UNISTRA’s electrochemical characterization capabilities. Aligned with EPICUR’s strategic goals, the project will foster research integration and student training through two key objectives :
- Creating sustainable research partnerships via joint workshops and an open-access seminar series on “Functional Redox-/Photo-active Hybrids” for EPICUR staff members and MSc students;
- Conducting a proof-of-concept study to support a DN-MSCA proposal that shifts metallodrug development from pharmacological studies to mechanistic electrochemical investigations.
The outcomes will include both a competitive EU funding application and enhanced educational offerings within the EPICUR alliance.
