Meet Dimitrios Papadopoulos, PhD Student at UFR
Dimitrios Papadopoulos holds an integrated M.Sc. in environmental engineering from University of Patras and a M.Sc. in Renewable Energy Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, in Italy. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD under the guidance of professor Anke Weidlich at the University of Freiburg. His doctoral research project, Grid-Sensitive Energy Community Coordination (GrECCo), is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affaires and Climate Action. His research interests lie in energy modeling using machine learning, energy forecasting, and the flexibility services provision to the power grid.
During his academic journey, Dimitrios actively engaged in exchange and mobility programmes, gaining firsthand experience from various institutions. As an EPICUR ECR Board member, he aims to leverage this diverse experience to contribute to the sustainability and digitalization of European universities, envisioning a fair and progressive European University for the future.
